Culture

Hans Greil (1845–1909) was a teacher and the first director of the Woodworking School Hallstatt and later of the Woodworking School Ebensee. Alongside his work as an educator, he was one of the most renowned wood sculptors and carvers of his time, whose significance extended far beyond the Salzkammergut. Greil created numerous altars, including the high altar in Litschau and the altar of the castle chapel in Wallsee. He also designed, among other things, the model for the Franz Carl Brunnen in Bad Ischl. The Stations of the Cross
