Exhibition "Hans Greil" at Museum.Ebensee

Hans Greil (1845–1909), teacher and first director of the Wood Trade School Hallstatt and later of the Wood Trade School Ebensee, was — alongside his work as an educator — also a renowned wood sculptor and carver whose significance reached far beyond the Salzkammergut.

Greil created altars such as the high altar in Litschau and the altar of the Wallsee castle chapel. He also designed, among other works, the model for the Franz Carl Fountain in Bad Ischl. The Stations of the Cross images on the Kalvarienberg and the tabernacle in the Catholic parish church in Ebensee likewise originate from Hans Greil.

Museum. Ebensee dedicates a small exhibition to this artist and pioneer of the carving art in the Salzkammergut, which can be visited from 9 July during the museum's opening hours.
