Exhibition "Hans Greil - Teacher of a Generation. Pioneer of Woodcarving in the Salzkammergut." Hans Greil (1845–1909), teacher and first director of the Hallstatt School of Woodcraft and later of the Ebensee School of Woodcraft, was not only an educator but also a renowned wood sculptor and carver whose significance extended far beyond the Salzkammergut. Greil created altarpieces, including the high altar in Litschau and the altar of the Wallsee castle chapel. He also designed, among other works, the model for the Franz Carl Brunnen in Bad Ischl. The Stations of the Cross paintings on the Calvary and the tabernacle in the Catholic parish church in Ebensee likewise come from Hans Greil. Museum.Ebensee dedicates a small exhibition to this artist and pioneer of woodcarving in the Salzkammergut, which can be viewed during the museum's opening hours from 9 July onwards.
