Exhibition "Hans Greil" at Museum.Ebensee

Exhibition "Hans Greil - Teacher of a Generation. Pioneer of Wood Carving in the Salzkammergut." Hans Greil (1845-1909), teacher and first director of the Hallstatt School of Woodcraft and later of the Ebensee School of Woodcraft, was not only an educator but also a renowned wood sculptor and carver whose significance extended far beyond the Salzkammergut. Greil created altars such as the high altar in Litschau and the altar of the Wallsee Castle Chapel. He also designed, among other things, the model for the Franz Carl Brunnen in Bad Ischl. The Stations of the Cross images on the Kalvarienberg and the tabernacle in the Catholic parish church in Ebensee also originate from Hans Greil. The Museum.Ebensee dedicates a small exhibition to this artist and pioneer of wood carving in the Salzkammergut, which can be seen from July 9 during the museum's opening hours.
