"Seismographic Calligraphies"

Opening on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 2 pm

Exhibition runs until October 31, 2026

Wolfgang Maria Reiter writes the same text over and over in his works, a text that has stayed with him since his early childhood. Through the constant repetition, the actual content of the text recedes into the background; the script becomes a means of design and writing turns into a repetitive, meditative process. The meaning is always present, yet the central content of the works is form. Reiter uses the continuous line of letters strung together to shape his images in writing across various formats. They range from miniatures to three-dimensional script objects that he folds and forms from written-upon paper. Wolfgang Maria Reiter writes with wooden sticks and ink on tracing paper. The writing becomes a projection surface for the artist's sensations and moods – Norbert Trawöger calls his works "seismographic calligraphies."
