Marcus Füreder, known worldwide as Parov Stelar, is one of the most successful Austrian artists of his generation. Between studio and stage, canvas and dancefloor, he creates a multifaceted cosmos of art, sound and feeling. For him, painting is a spontaneous impulse response – a dialogue with chance. Digital drafts flow into luminous oil compositions that transform in the process, until a painting "gazes back" at him and he knows: it is complete. Painting forms his counterpart to music, the tactile to the digital world. "I paint, therefore I am," he says – painting as an existential declaration. His works reflect an affinity with Pop Art from Warhol to Lichtenstein, while at the same time revealing inner struggles, fears and longings – visual psychograms of a seeker between sound and color. The native Upper Austrian studied painting in Linz and Berlin, exhibited large-format, autobiographical works at the Francisco Carolinum in 2021, and shows: Parov Stelar constantly reinvents himself – between beat and brushstroke, euphoria and melancholy.
