CloseUp Concert "Painted Harmony"

Exactly 30 years ago, two-time harmonica virtuoso Maria Wolfsberger and guitarist and composer Siegfried Steinkogler founded the duo "Painted Harmony". In this extraordinary ensemble – chromatic harmonica and guitar – the duo developed a distinctive sound profile.

The duo has celebrated great success at public performances in this unusual line-up, including at the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, the Schumann-Haus, the Nikolaikirche and Peterskirche in Leipzig, as well as the Salzburger Orchesterhaus, Brucknerhaus Linz, and various festivals in the Salzkammergut.

The first work composed specifically for the duo was written by Anton Steinkogler from Ebensee and will be performed alongside works by M. Ravel, F. Couperin, and G. Gershwin in the concert. Another highlight will be an improvisation inspired by a painting from the studio.

Maria Wolfsberger was born in Roitham and is known in Leipzig as the "Nun with the harmonica". She belongs to the order of the Missionaries of Christ and studied church music in Leipzig. She has also made a name for herself on the organ.

Siegfried Steinkogler is well known not only in the Salzkammergut as a concert guitarist, composer, and jury member. His concert activities have recently often taken place in Vienna, also together with the renowned soprano Josipa Bainac.

The concert in Gmunden is one to look forward to.
