Historic Salt Route Boat Trip aboard the Paddle Steamer Gisela

For many centuries, salt barges (Salzzillen) were used on the Traunsee to transport the precious salt from Ebensee to Gmunden. As part of the European Capital of Culture programme, an exact replica of a 16th-century Salzzille was built, and it will now regularly make its journeys on the lake. Join the Gisela for a round trip accompanied by the Salzzille and be transported back to a historic era when salt was carried across the Traunsee aboard these traditional barges.
