Parov Stelar – Leave the Future Behind

Marcus Füreder, known worldwide as Parov Stelar, is one of the most successful Austrian artists of his generation. Between studio and stage, canvas and dancefloor, he creates a multi-layered cosmos of art, sound, and emotion. For him, painting is a spontaneous impulse – a dialogue with chance. Digital drafts evolve into luminous oil compositions that transform throughout the process until a painting "looks back" at him and he knows: it is finished. Painting forms his counterpoint to music, the tactile to the digital world. "I paint, therefore I am," he says – painting as an existential declaration. His works reflect an affinity with Pop Art from Warhol to Lichtenstein, while also revealing inner struggles, fears, and longings – visual psychograms of a seeker between sound and color. Born in Upper Austria, he studied painting in Linz and Berlin, exhibited large-scale, autobiographical works at the Francisco Carolinum in 2021, and shows that Parov Stelar constantly reinvents himself – between beat and brushstroke, euphoria and melancholy.
