Historical Salt Route Boat Trip aboard the Steamboat Gisela

For many centuries, salt barges (Salzzillen) were used on the Traunsee to transport the precious salt from Ebensee to Gmunden. As part of the European Capital of Culture programme, an exact replica of a 16th-century salt barge was created, which will now operate on the lake in the future. Let yourself be transported back in time on a round trip with the Gisela, combined with the salt barge, to the historic era when salt was carried across the Traunsee by means of these traditional vessels.
