Arrival by public transport is recommended. By train, travel via Attnang-Puchheim to Gmunden, then continue with the Traunsee-Tram (line 161) to the Gschwandt-Schule stop. The tram can also be reached from Vorchdorf-Eggenberg. From Attnang-Puchheim, there are connections to the Westbahn line (line 101) as well as services via Gmunden towards Bad Ischl, Hallstatt and Bad Aussee.

By bicycle, Gschwandt is accessible via the Gmunden–Vorchdorf cycling route. The Traunvierteltour, the R4 Traunradweg and the R2 Salzkammergutradweg are well connected from Gmunden – simply follow the green signage.

By car, the route runs via the Westautobahn A1: From Vienna, take the Laakirchen West exit, then via Laakirchen to Gmunden Ost. From Munich or Salzburg, take the Regau exit onto the B145 towards Gmunden, the same applies from Bad Ischl on the B145. Before Gmunden, take the B120 eastern bypass towards Scharnstein; at the roundabout in Baumgarten, take the third exit towards Vorchdorf or Gschwandt. From Scharnstein, take the first exit at the roundabout – after 700 metres, you'll find it on the right-hand side. From Vorchdorf, follow the country road directly into the centre. Parking is available at the school and at the village square.
