Her engagement with her own Carinthian homeland has quite literally driven the artist to explore various forms of hunting: from mandala to animated film to printed hunting collages for the dining room. We should be on our guard! Waidmannsheil!

Ina Loitzl embroiders, sews, cuts, prints, paints, and films – in keeping with her subject matter and folk culture – to her heart's content. In her artistic work, she combines craftsmanship with kitsch and media imagery, unmasking being and appearance. She presents an image that ostensibly conveys a zest for life, yet at the same time points to its rigid, constrictive conventions and attributions. By confronting aspects of traditional customs with modern realities of life and placing them in a global context, she distinguishes authentic tradition from emotionally charged provincial nostalgia, and on the other hand deciphers the sinister and abusive appropriation of its content. After all, as Otto von Bismarck once said… "…there is no greater lie than before an election, during a war, and after a hunt."
