CloseUp Concert "Painted Harmony"

Exactly 30 years ago, two-time harmonica virtuoso Maria Wolfsberger and guitarist and composer Siegfried Steinkogler founded the duo "Painted Harmony." In this extraordinary combination – chromatic harmonica and guitar – the duo developed a distinctive sound profile. Performing in public with this unusual instrumentation, the duo celebrated great successes at venues including the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, the Schumann House, the Nikolaikirche and Peterskirche in Leipzig, the Salzburg Orchesterhaus, the Brucknerhaus Linz, and various festivals in the Salzkammergut. The first work specially composed for the duo is by Anton Steinkogler from Ebensee and will be heard in the concert alongside works by M. Ravel, F. Couperin, and G. Gershwin. Another highlight will be an improvisation inspired by a painting from the studio. Maria Wolfsberger was born in Roitham and is known in Leipzig as the "nun with the harmonica." She belongs to the order of the Missionarinnen Christi and studied church music in Leipzig. She has also made a name for herself on the organ. Siegfried Steinkogler, as a concert guitarist, composer, and jury member, is well known not only in the Salzkammergut. His concert activity has recently often taken him to Vienna, where he performs together with the renowned soprano Josipa Bainac. The concert in Gmunden promises to be a truly exciting experience.
