The Grand Austrian Tattoo – 320 Years of the Stadtkapelle Gmunden

With great pride and joy, the Stadtkapelle Gmunden looks back on its 320th anniversary this year. Founded in an era when Georg Friedrich Händel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Antonio Vivaldi shaped the music of the Baroque, our association has been dedicated to music, tradition, and community for over three centuries. This makes the Stadtkapelle Gmunden one of the oldest music associations in Upper Austria.

To mark this extraordinary milestone, we are hosting a grand festive musical event: the "Großer Österreichischer Zapfenstreich" (Grand Austrian Tattoo). This impressive ceremonial features three music ensembles along with several traditional regiments, creating a festive experience that brings together music, tradition, and history.
