Museum Ebensee dedicates a small exhibition to the artist and pioneer of woodcarving in the Salzkammergut.

Hans Greil (1845–1909) was a teacher and the first director of the Hallstatt School of Woodcraft, and later of the Ebensee School of Woodcraft. Alongside his work as an educator, he was also a renowned wood sculptor and carver whose significance extended far beyond the Salzkammergut. Greil created altarpieces such as the high altar in Litschau and the altar of the Wallsee castle chapel. He also designed, am
