"TRADITION & MYTHOS" Exhibition of the Barmstoana Perchten at the Hundsmarktmühle

The special exhibition "Tradition & Mythos" has been extended by one year due to its great success. In this fascinating and history-rich theme, the Hundsmarktmühle will dive deep into its special exhibition in 2026, offering us profound insights into ancient traditions and new developments. Who knows that the two Barmstoana were flung here by the devil himself from above Hallein, when he was once woken up on Christmas Eve by singing pilgrims? The story of the Barmstoana Perchten revolves around this myth, whose multifaceted wooden masks are all crafted by hand. Our special exhibition presents some of the most beautiful, but also the most terrifying masks, in connection with the tradition of the Perchten customs. On the opening day on Sun, 10 May 2026, fresh bread will be baked at the Hundsmarktmühle!
