On 15 August, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary – the patron saint's feast day of the parish church – is celebrated. The Fronleichnamsschützen Hallstatt also mark their 40th anniversary on this day and warmly invite you to celebrate this special milestone together with friends, guests and supporters on Saturday, 15 August 2026.

The festive day begins at 10:00 with a solemn High Mass in the Pfarr- und Wallfahrtskirche Hallstatt. It is an opportunity to give thanks to God for 40 years of the Fronleichnamsschützen, to remember the living and deceased members, and to ask for His blessing for the future of the community. The anniversary takes on a special significance through the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, on which the church also celebrates its patron saint's feast day. Church festival, club anniversary and lived village community come together to form a special day in the spirit of faith, tradition and togetherness.

The history of the Fronleichnamsschützen goes back a long way. As early as 1623, the Hallstatt Corpus Christi procession was documented for the first time. Even then, the Blessed Sacrament was accompanied by cannon salvos. After the firing of cannons was later banned and this tradition fell into oblivion, it was revived in 1986 on the initiative of Pfarrer em. August Stögner together with dedicated Hallstatt residents. For four decades now, the Fronleichnamsschützen have been an integral part of church and social life in Hallstatt. With their traditional salute shots, they accompany the Corpus Christi procession as well as numerous church festivals, and also give special occasions in the market town a dignified and festive setting.

After the High Mass, the Salinenmusikkapelle Hallstatt accompanies the festive gathering in a solemn procession from the church via the Seeauerbühel to the festival grounds at the Pfannhauserbühel. There, the traditional beer tapping is carried out jointly by Vizebürgermeister Alfred Gamsjäger and Pfarrer em. August Stögner, before the anniversary celebration continues in a convivial atmosphere. The subsequent Frühschoppen with live music ensures great entertainment. There is also plenty on offer for the palate: alongside the popular crispy Grillhendl and the long-standing Kesselheiße, delicious Käsespätzle, other Schmankerl and refreshing drinks await visitors.

The Fronleichnamsschützen Hallstatt look forward to welcoming many guests to celebrate 40 years of the Fronleichnamsschützen Hallstatt together, setting a visible sign for lived tradition, community and togetherness. Preserving tradition – Living faith – Strengthening community.
