Experience the live Baumkuchen baking by Bäckerei Nahmer at Auböckplatz in Bad Ischl, where you can see up close how this exquisite specialty is created layer by layer on a rotating spit. This traditional craft takes place as part of the annual Kaiserbummel.

Baumkuchen is a delicate pastry made from a light sponge batter, applied in layers onto a rotating spit and baked over an open flame. When sliced, the baked layers reveal rings reminiscent of the annual growth rings of a tree. Due to its elaborate handcraft, it is also called the "King of Cakes."
