At the live Baumkuchen baking event hosted by Bäckerei Nahmer at Auböckplatz in Bad Ischl, you can experience up close how this fine specialty is created layer by layer on a rotating roller. This traditional craft takes place as part of the annual Kaiserbummel.

The Baumkuchen is a delicate pastry made from a light sponge batter, which is applied in layers onto a rotating roller and baked over an open flame. When sliced, the baked layers reveal rings reminiscent of the growth rings of a tree. Due to its elaborate handcraft, it is also called the "King of Cakes."
