Long Night of Industrial Heritage at the Sensenmuseum Geyerhammer

At the Sensenmuseum, the 400-year tradition of scythe making in Scharnstein is brought back to life. Using authentically preserved forging hammers, former blacksmiths demonstrate the high art of scythe smithing. You will also gain comprehensive insights into the working world and social life of the scythe smiths, as well as the rapid rise of the Redtenbacher company to become the largest scythe producer in the Danube Monarchy – until its end in 1987. An audio guide provides additional information.

  • 16:00 to 18:00: Forging a horseshoe – visitors (also suitable for children aged 8 and above)
