Long Night of Industrial Heritage at the Sensenmuseum Geyerhammer

At the Sensenmuseum, the 400-year tradition of scythe production in Scharnstein is brought back to life. Using authentically preserved smithing hammers, former blacksmiths demonstrate the art of scythe forging. You will also gain comprehensive insights into the working world and social life of the scythe smiths, as well as the rapid rise of the Redtenbacher company to become the largest scythe producer of the Danube Monarchy – up until its end in 1987. An audio guide provides additional information.

Program highlights:

  • 16:00 to 18:00 – Forging of a horseshoe by visitors (also suitable for children aged 8 and over)
