Music to listen to again and again

In a growing atmosphere of uncertainty and gloomy future scenarios, so too does the need for safety and stability grow – for retreat, inner reflection, and protection. For people who find an anchor in their religion, this is in a sense already taken care of. But sacred spaces can also be a temporary home for people without a classical religious connection, offering that sense of belonging that is so needed right now.

Church choirs have been an integral part of Christian churches since the Reformation. They accompany (in rural areas) the everyday lives of village communities within a church context.

Beyond that, church choirs are also places of communal action. Due to growing religious alienation, it is becoming increasingly difficult for choirs to recruit enough new members to keep pace with these social trends. The "Kirchenkonzert to go" aims to respond to various life circumstances of churchgoers – from great joy to deep sorrow – with short pieces drawn from individual songs of the classical repertoire. These "mini concerts" are meant to showcase the choir's achievements independently of an actual performance, present their repertoire, and highlight areas for development by incorporating new songs.

In this way, the church experiences a reinterpretation of its own motto: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Mt 11:28)

The "Kirchenkonzert to go" can be heard at 10 am and at 4 pm in the parish church of Unterach. Those who would like to take the concert home with them can pick up a postcard with a QR code in the church foyer. The card provides information about the project and the songs sung, and can also be sent as a picture postcard.
