The exploration of her own Carinthian homeland has driven the artist to explore virtually every artistic expression of hunting: from mandalas to animated films and printed hunting collages for the dining room. We should be on our guard! Waidmannsheil! Ina Loitzl embroiders, sews, cuts, prints, paints, and films — wholeheartedly in keeping with her subject, folk culture. In her artistic work, she combines craftsmanship with kitsch and media imagery, unmasking appearance and reality. She presents an image that on the surface conveys joy of life, yet simultaneously points to its rigid, confining conventions and expectations. By confronting aspects of tradition with modern realities and placing them within a global context, the artist distinguishes authentic folk customs from emotionally charged provincial nostalgia, while also deciphering the sinister and abusive appropriation of their content. After all, as Otto von Bismarck once said: "... there is no greater lie than before an election, during a war, and after a hunt." With this in mind, draw your own conclusions.
