The artist's engagement with her own Carinthian homeland has driven her to explore the most diverse artistic expressions of hunting: from mandala to animated film to printed hunting collage for the dining room. We should be on our guard! Waidmannsheil!

Ina Loitzl embroiders, sews, cuts, prints, paints and films – wholeheartedly in keeping with the subject of folk culture. In her artistic work, she combines craft with kitsch and media imagery, unmasking being and illusion. She shows an image that ostensibly conveys joy of life, while simultaneously pointing to its rigid, constricting conventions and attributions. By confronting aspects of traditional customs with modern realities of life and placing them in a global frame of reference, the artist distinguishes authentic folk tradition from emotionally loaded provincial nostalgia on the one hand, and on the other deciphers the abysmal and abusive appropriation of its contents. For, as Otto von Bismarck once said… "…there is never as much lying as before an election, during a war, and after a hunt."
