At the live Baumkuchen baking event hosted by Bäckerei Nahmer at Auböckplatz in Bad Ischl, you can experience up close how this exquisite specialty is created layer by layer on a turning spit. This traditional craft takes place as part of the annual Kaiserbummel.

Baumkuchen is a delicate pastry made from a light batter, which is applied layer by layer onto a turning spit and baked over an open flame. When sliced, the baked layers form rings reminiscent of the growth rings of a tree. Due to its elaborate handcraft, it is also known as the "King of Cakes."
